Mark Ristic


Mark is the owner of the Caltex Service Station in Bungendore and a committed family man who has lived and worked in the Queanbeyan/Bungendore area for over 50 years. Born on Australia Day to immigrant parents, Mark arrived in Queanbeyan when he was five.
Early life, Career & Family
He attended Isabella Primary School and was among the first cohort at the newly opened Karabar High School in 1977. Mark played local Aussie rules and also played for the Queanbeyan Blues for several years alongside the likes of Glenn Lazarus. After high school, he studied cartography, and got his start as part of a bicentennial project at the former Yarralumla Shire Council. From there he furthered his cartography career at Australian Government agencies National Mapping and AirServices Australia, before taking over the family service station in 2000. Mark’s business acumen and work ethic was honed as a young man as throughout school he worked in the Bungendore business that his father George built in 1972. The Ristic family have been proud longstanding members of the Bungendore business community, and will be celebrating fifty years in business in 2022. Mark has been married to his wife Kim for over 34 years. Both are very proud of their three adult daughters, all of whom have worked in the family business while growing up. They are now forging their own careers as a primary school teacher, a physiotherapist and with the youngest currently completing a law and criminology degree.
